What Are Some Deep/ Hidden/or Repetitive Symbols In The Book 'THE GRAPES OF WRATH'?

I'm not sure about "hidden," but I'd point out that Rev. Jim Casey, who wakens Tom's social consciousness, has the initials "J.C.." Also, Casey is martyred, and one of his last lines is "You don't know what you're doing." (As in "Forgive them, Father, they know not what they do...)
