    The longest river in the world in terms of length is the River Nile. It has a length of about 4,135 miles and has an average discharge of about 5,100 cubic meters per second and outflows into the Mediterranean sea. It spans a number of different African countries like Ethiopia, Egypt, Sudan, Eriteria, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Amazon river is the second largest river besides Nile and has a much wider drainage area of about 6,915,000 square kilometers and a much higher discharge volume than Nile of about 219,000 cubic meters.
