Just need some tips on getting him to stop so far its a major fight daily

Unfortunately some dogs seem to find cat poo really tasty! Yuk! Have you tried getting one of the covered cat litter trays? Or maybe put a cat flap in your bathroom door and put the litter tray in there? Or up high where the dog can't reach?

Well, is his food anywhere near the litter box? If that is the case then it is just a matter of moving the foodbowl away from the litterbox. If not then showhim him the litterbox and tell him 'No' and then show him the food and tell him 'Eat, good boy'. If it still doesn't work, pluck him on the nose each time you catch him eating out of the litter box. That's all the advise I can give you. Wish you luck!!!

I agree with harka to get one of those cat boxes with a hood cover and a handle you can carry around if you want to. That should take care of the problem. We had a cat box like that and also use to have a black lab who would pick up the handle with his teeth and carry the box around (sometimes with the cat in it!). MEEOOW!
