    Alice walker is a contemporary African-American author. She was a feminist and a Pulitzer Prize winner for her work titled The Colour Purple. She is also the author of "everyday Use" another fictional work. It is a story that deals with a mother's not so easy relationship with her two daughters. In this book it is shown that the mother rejects her elder daughter's superficial value and prefers the younger ones practical ideas. This book is set in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is a literary work that explores the heritage of the African-Americans.
