Why Do We Sweat?

Answer Question

4 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Sweating is caused by the heat that is produced in our body due to intense physical training or the lack of air that is required for the body to balance the body temperature. In case the body does not get sufficient air, we tend to sweat. The sweat is actually salt water that is emitted out of your body by the millions of sweat glands that exist inside. Sweat glands are distributed all over our body and are especially found near the armpit which is the reason why we sweat a lot from there.

Sweating is not bad for our body. It is actually very good. Due to sweating, our body stays cool otherwise we would not be able to tolerate heat inside our body and our body would explode. Some people tend to sweat a lot than other people. It also depends upon the amount of fat content in our body.

        From the Medical Encyclopedia:

Sweating is the release of a salty liquid from the body's sweat glands. It is an essential function that helps the body stay cool.
Because sweating is the body's natural way of regulating temperature, people sweat more when it's hot outside. People also sweat more when they exercise, or in response to situations that make them nervous, angry, embarrassed, or afraid.

        Hope that helps!

Part of homeostasis. Sweat cools off the body by exerting waste through sweat glands. The body gets rid of the stuff we don't need, and cools the body off at the same time.
