Gregor Mendel is the father of genetics. He discovered that factors (now called genes ) can lay hidden in a generation and then show in the phenotypes again. He named these recessive and the other factor dominant. The expected ratio from matings is referred to as the mendelian ratio

It seems that "always16" doesn't know that she knows the right answer. Father Mendel was the father of genetics. So far I know, before him no one advanced anything  significant  on this line to be recognized as father of a branch of a science.
