On The London Underground, Where Does The Central Line Start And Terminate?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

On the London Underground, the Central Line starts in West London. It has two branch lines, one of which starts in West Ruislip, the other in Ealing Broadway. The line travels through central London, serving stations such as Shepherds Bush, Bond Street, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road, Bank and Stratford. When the line reaches Leytonstone, it splits again into two separate branches. One of these branches goes as far as Epping via Woodford, the other branch serves Newbury Park, Hainault and terminates in Woodford.

The Central line started running in 1900 and initially trains went from Bank to Shepherd's Bush. It now covers 46 miles of train track, which makes it the London Underground's longest tube line, serving at 49 stations.

At present, in 2007, approximate figures suggest that almost 590,000 people use the Central Line on a weekday, with annual figures running at 183.5 million passengers.
