    A trilogy is a three works such as books or films which are connected. Trilogies usually need to be read or watched in order so that the storyline is understood.

    Famous book trilogies include His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (not originally a trilogy, but it was published as one), The Bartemaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud.

    Famous film trilogies include the Back to the Future trilogy, The Godfather trilogy, the Indiana Jones trilogy, the Star Wars trilogy (the original films).

    Other types of trilogies include video games such as Halo, Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia, Sonic the Hedgehog.
