My neutered male cat, 14 months old, has been having seizures almost weekly. My vet says in order to be diagnosed I would have to take him to Seattle (about 500 miles away) for a CT scan. I do not have money for this. Is there anything I can do for him? Any medication I can give him? Will he die from this? I got him when he was about 4weeks old and he was a feral cat. Please help.

Yes, cats do have epileptic seizures -- usually not as commonly as dogs do, and I'm sorry to tell you that the diagnosis for the cats is harder to do and a lot more expensive, as you've found when you spoke to the vet. There are usually 2 common reasons for the seizures -- a brain disorder, or "structural", which is trauma or a disease, but that has to be diagnosed before treatment can be set. I have found a site for you that explains feline seizures, and that treatment of Valium of phenobarbital seems to work. I hope your cat can be treated and get well again. As a matter of fact, yes, cats can have epileptic seizures. First you will need to go to the vet to check for epilepsy. If your cat does have it then, your vet more than likely will give you medicine for your cat to take. A few doses might have to be taken to find the correct amount for your pet. Good luck :)

Yep they do I know a cat that dose and they went to the vet and they gave her some medicines to take
