What Does Durable Mean?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

If you are using the word durable for a product you are praising the product for its long lasting nature. The meaning can be better described when it is used in the following sentence: If you buy a mobile phone of Motorola you can be sure of its durability as they are known to make sturdy phones. Sometimes you can use the term for goods in general that are expected to last for a long time. Cars and televisions come under this category.

You can also use the term in the figurative way as when you are conveying an idea of something lasting for a long time you can use the term over there. This use of the term is illustrated in the following sentence: India and Pakistan are negotiating for a durable peace.
