The film version of George and Mildred was to be the last we would see of the show. and was to be the last time we would see George and Mildred together. Yootha Joyce died shortly before the film's release so the planned sixth TV series was never made.
Following the end of George and Mildred, Brian Murphy went on to feature in many stage plays and TV shows. One of the first was The Incredible Mr Tanner which teamed him up with occasional George and Mildred co-star Roy Kinnear.
It's Your Move starred Brian alongside Richard Briars and Sylvia Sims and was about a removal company that was not the most reliable or careful firm of removers around. It's Your Move was an almost dialogue free TV film that also starred the comedy partnership of Eric Sykes and Tommy Cooper leading the team of removers.
Other comedies included L For Lester (1982) Lame Ducks (1984) Mrs Merton & Malcolm (1999) Knife & Wife (2001) The All Star Comedy Show / Monkey Trousers (2004).
Brian has also stared in The Bill, Last of the Summer Wine and The Catherine Tate Show amongst others.
