What Does Christian Mean?

A Christian is essentially someone who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, as laid out in the Gospels. Their monotheistic views on the Godhead differ slightly from others (such as Judaism or Islam) because they believe in the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is the backbone of Christianity, it stipulates that the Godhead is divided into three factions; the Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, but that these are all still one entity. Christians also believe that Jesus Christ, aside from being the son of God, was both completely God and paradoxically completely man. He bridged the gap between humanity and deity. 

A follower or disciple  of  jesus ; someone who believes Jesus is the  christ or messiah. The  new testament  mentions that the followers of Jesus were first called Christians within a few years after his death.
