The sun is the star which is located in the centre of the Solar System. All the planets including the Earth, meteoroids, planets and comets revolve around the orbit of the sun. The sun accounts for more than 99 per cent of the mass of the Solar System. The Energy which is obtained from the sun in the form of insulation from the sunlight supports almost all of the life form on the earth via the method of photosynthesis, the sun also drives the climate and the whether of the Earth.
The sun is also known or sometimes referred to as Sol. Sometimes it is also known by its Greek name which is 'Helios'. About 70 per cent of the mass of the sun is of Hydrogen and 25 per cent is of Helium. The remaining 5 per cent is made up of trace quantities of heavier elements.
