Lear is referred to the main character in Shakespeare's catastrophe King Lear. He is also considered to be the well-known king of Britain. This tragedy is based on the fable of King Leir, a king of pre-Roman Britain. This was considered to be one of Shakespeare's superb achievements after the World War II.
The legendary characters that relate very well are Lir (Irish) or Llŷr (Welsh).
