Stems are of different types. usually, a stem consist of 3 tissues namely the dermal, ground and the vascular tissue. It is the vascular tissue that makes the stem to stand in upright position . The dermal tissue gives a waterproofing arrangement. similarly a ground tissue is made of the parenchyma cells....
