    Acccording to Cambodia's Constitution of 1993, Cambodia's politics is acted out within the framework of a parliamentary, representative democratic monarchy. The monarch is just a symbolic head and does not weild any real political power. The head of the Cambodian government is the Prime Minister. There is a pluriform multi-party system, and the king is the symbolic head of state.

    The King appoints the Prime Minister, on the recommendations and advice of the National Assembly, and his decision requires their approval. The government's executive power is exercised by the Prime Minister and the ministerial apointees exercise executive power in government. The two chambers of parliament are the National Assembly of Cambodia and the Senate.The executive and the two chambers of parliament share the legislative powers.
