Mutual trust and imposed ethics are two very necessary ingredients in a person's life, and helps improve the quality, be it at home, with friends, or at the workplace. At the workplace especially, these are very important and necessary concepts.
We shall discuss these issues in the context of the workplace. At the workplace, mutual trust is very necessary. Most of us work in teams at the workplace, and while working in such a scenario, it is very important for all of us to be able to trust the other people in the team, so we can work freely, knowing that we all would watch each other's backs, and could depend on the others in a crisis situation.
Imposed ethics are necessary because they bring in us a sense of responsibility and understanding of the environment we work in. We may not like these ethics, but they are necessary because they work. Take for instance a simple imposed ethic like a dress code. A company may have formal wear as a dress code for its employees. many of us may not like the idea, especially those from the denim generation, but there is a reason why such a code is imposed; it could be that the company has financial clients who visit the premises often, or who require the company's employees to visit them often, hence the code.
While mutual trust seems the better of the two, both are equally important for a great work life.
