The poem To A butterfly was written by William Wordsworth in the year 1801. Like all his poem, this also depicts his love for nature. The poet is nostalgic in this poem. He is watching a butterfly who is sitting on a flower for a half hour or so. He talks of the butterfly being motionless sitting on the flower. He describes it as having no care for sleep or food. Just waiting for the joy that the breeze would bring to the butterfly. The poet asks the butterfly to come to his orchard ground and flowers so that they can talk about the poet's youth and sunshine and songs. The poet reflects that when people are young, they spend their long days playing and having fun and have no idea about the time passing and the beautiful butterfly reminds the poet of his carefree youth.
