There are a number of factors that you need to consider before buying a boiler and deciding upon its size. Some of these are what is required of the boiler: low pressure steam, hot water, high pressure steam; the amount of steam or water do you require; the exact purpose of the boiler, for space heating, humidification etc; the type of fuel being used to heat the boiler weather it is coal, fuel oil, natural gas, wood etc; type of combustion air system required; Ventilation being provided to the burner; size of the area where boiler is to be located; and the proximity to support and maintenance staff.

You need to make a list of all these factors and present them to the boiler manufacturer or sales representative in your area to know which boiler best suits your needs.
