How Do Brakes Work?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Basically the function a break serves is to convert the kinetic energy into heat and the heat is applied to stop your vehicle. But when it comes to practical application of the braking system it can be described that when you exert pressure with your foot, the pedal put pressure on the master cylinder which is a cylinder that contains a piston which is used to put pressure on the network hydraulic brake lines and the brake applies to each of the wheels that are the part of the vehicle.  On each of the wheels at which the pressure operates, the pistons face the replaceable linings against a drum that are rotating which produces friction. It is friction that slows the vehicle and to some extent stops it.
