Where Is Alexandra Palace?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Built in the year 1873, Alexandra palace is a Grade II listed building on Muswell Hill, North London. It was built as an entertainment centre as a counterpart of the Crystal Palace but these days it serves as a conference centre.

The place served as the headquarters of the first high definition television service and even today the transmitter located in the palace broadcasts the signals for television and radio.

The proposed drawings of the site was first drawn and exhibited by Owen Jones and initially the company responsible for it was not able to arrange the finance for the project. Later it managed to execute the project and this marvellous piece of architecture came into existence. The palace was named after the Alexandra of Denmark who was married to the Prince of Wales.
