Parallel means concurrent and in geometry, it means that two lines are parallel only if they never intersect each other. This means that opposite edge of a ruler and railway lines never meet each other. If two lines AB and DE are parallel then they can be denoted as AB || DE. Moreover, parallel lines form the basis of Euclid's parallel postulate.
