The Ginkgo is known as the Maidenhair Tree. It is a very different tree that has no kind of connections. It consists of the single class Ginkgoopsida and belongs to the family of Ginkgoaceae and the genus of Ginkgo. The ginkgo has just one species. It is a very well known living fossil. It is also termed as a gymnosperm, which means "naked seed". It is mostly found in the wild and also in very small areas in the Zhejiang province in eastern China, in the Tian Mu Shan Reserve.
In Chinese Ginkgo means, "silver apricot". The modern meaning however is brought down to as "white fruit".
Ginkgo is a deciduous tree that grows to a height of about 20–35 m tall. Their roots are generally strong, due to which they are well protected from strong wind and snow damage.
