Fax machines, meanwhile, require a dedicated phone line so you will have to decide whether it is still necessary and cost effective. This abolishes the requirement for a dedicated phone line and other running costs for paper, toner and electricity.
To send paper documents requiring a signature, the workaround is to scan the signed document in with a standard desktop scanner. The digital version can then be sent from a fax to email service or emailed as an attachment.

Burglar alarms require a dedicated phone line and cannot share with a broadband connection.
