    Mary Louise Streep better known as Meryl Streep was born at 8.05 a.m. on the 22nd of June 1949 in Summit, New Jersey in the United States.

    She was born to Harry and Mary Streep. Her father was an executive to a pharmaceutical concern while her mother was a commercial artist. Her ancestry is Sephardic Jewish.

    Meryl Streep upbringing took place in New Jersey, in Bernardsville. She attended Yale University where she received her Masters in Fine Arts from the Yale school of Drama.      

    She received her first ever Emmy Award for the miniseries 'Holocaust' in 1978. She has received the Academy award for the films 'Kramer vs. Kramer' and 'Sophie's Choice' in 1979 and 1982 respectively.

    She has four children and is married to Don Gummer who she married in 1978. She once said "You can't get spoiled if you do your own ironing".
