Which Club Holds The Record For The Fewest League Goals Scored In A Single League Season?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The unwanted record for being the side to have scored the fewest goals in an English league season belongs to Stoke City.

In their relegation season in nineteen eighty four, nineteen eighty five, Stoke managed to find the back of the net on only twenty four occasions in the forty two first division games they played that season.

That lowly total was also reached by Herfordshire club Watford in the nineteen seventy one, seventy two season, playing the same amount of games (forty two), but as the Hornets were playing in the old second division at the time, Stoke's total is considered to be worse as they were a top flight side.

The all time low for the Premiership was set by North East side Sunderland, who in the two thousand and two, two thousand and three season managed to fond the net only twenty one times, although Sunderland played four games fewer than either Stoke of Watford.
