What Does A Video Games Tester Do?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A video games tester tests games to make sure that they work properly. A games tester must make sure that they note down bugs in the game and inform the creators of the game. This is important as the bugs need to be solved so that the game will not have any faults when it is released to the public. Games testers will try to find different ways of making the video game crash so that the problem can be fixed.

As some games take a while to make, a games tester must test the same game for long periods of time. This could even be up to as long as six months.

You do not need any specific qualifications to be a games tester, apart from an interest in games and maybe a lot of patience, as it can be tedious when you are working on the same game for months. Games testers will be able to see the game go through different stages, which will give them knowledge of how games are made.
