Sparta was a Greek city-state .Unlike Athens ,which was termed as a city-state of intellectuals and art, Sparta was an aristrocratic military state. In Sparta , more emphasis was given on military training .

A child in Sparta recieved military training even from his childhood till he became an adult and he was converted into a fine soldier. The Spartians, due to this training had a vital role in Greek Victories over Persia.
