What Is The Series "Duty Free"� About?

Although it now seems very dated, this 1980s ITV comedy series was a hit at the time; three series were made, plus a very popular Christmas special. Keith Barron stars as David, who has been made redundant and uses part of the money to take his wife Amy (Gwen Taylor) on holiday to the Costa del Sol.

There they meet fanatical golfer Robert (Neil Stacy) and his wife Linda (Joanna Van Gyseghem) who soon becomes the object of David's timid passion. Unsatisfied in her marriage (asked if she thinks Robert is using golf as a substitute for sex, she replies, "No, it's the other way round") Linda returns his feelings and the two of them embark on a decorous affair. Audiences tuned in every week to see if they had "gone all the way" yet, although it was Gwen Taylor's Amy who had the greatest audience appeal – probably due to her deadpan delivery.
