    The first ever book written by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was "The Book of Lost Tales". Tolkien was a famous British writer born on 3rd January 1892, is quiet well known for his books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien worked as a professor and taught Anglo-Saxon Language at Oxford for a period of twenty years ranging between 1925 to 1945.

    He had strong religious beliefs and was a dedicated Roman Catholic. C.S Lewis and Richard Adams were some of his close friends, with whom he was member of the literary dialogue group "The lnklings". Apart from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien also wrote the book "The Silmarillion".

    The growing popularity of Tolkien's work literally made him the pioneer of modern fantasy literature.
