Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A concerto normally means a musical work in which just one solo instrument is being focused on, but at the same time accompanied by an orchestra. The piano concertos were categorized and fell in the genre of 'Romantic Concertos'. The piano concertos of Hummel, Field and Mendelssohn created the link between the Classical Concertos and the Romantic Concertos. A composer by the name of Chopin had written two piano concertos in which the piano was overshadowed by the accompanying instruments.

However Piano Concertos earned their fame when Robert Schumann in spite of being a pianist, made piano concertos the way it should be. Johannes Brahms a very famous Romantic Concerto musician played his first Piano Concerto, the concerto was played in the key of D Minor. It was published in the year 1861.
