There are a range of coastal and mountain communities where one may choose to live. People who enjoy a city life will like to live in Charlotte, the largest metropolitan area in the Carolinas. From Uptown to the suburbs' there are a wide range of residential property choices. There are facilities such as upscale shopping centers and good quality schools in Charlotte's most popular neighborhoods.

There are many other options too. Concord (a suburb northeast of Charlotte) is one such place. It is family friendly and has great schools. Housing is relatively cheap with low taxes. Drive to Uptown Charlotte during non-rush hour times is about 20 minutes. Carowinds theme park, the lakes, the new U.S. Whitewater Center, and other recreational areas can also be reached within half an hour.

Concord's population is 67,000 and the crime rate is low. Some other peaceful suburban communities in NC that which are also very good are Belmont, NC (west), Mooresville, NC (north), and Ft. Mill, SC (south).
