Well reptiles aren't really natural dinosaurs... They are just descendants of dinosaurs... like elephants they are descendants of the hairy mammoth that used to live in the year of the ice age... we humans used to be classified as hobbits (2 feet humans) and goliath (giant humans) but now we are just average...
You see when dinosaurs became extinct not all of them died... they also breeded with other species of dinosaurs that made them look like what they look now "reptile"or they could change in appearance throughout the years to cope up with the changing of the environment... again like the mammoth. The mammoth has very hairy skin because it lived in the ice age which is cold... and now modern elephants don't have a hairy coat the elephants evolved to cope with the new environment.

Dinosaurs vanished 65 million years ago. According to the evolution theory,it's believed that some small dinosaurs had already evolved into the birds and reptiles and survived. It is also believed that not all dinosaurs vanished at once. Some even survived for a million years after the death of their counterparts.
As for the question why did dinosaurs die while other reptiles survived, there are several theories that support the reasons.
Size of the survivor matters: Reptiles being smaller survived, while the larger animals died off. The larger species need more food and more space. Therefore, they are more vulnerable to extinction.
Usually larger animals are dependent upon smaller animals. They are at the top of the food chain. They are defendant upon other smaller animals for survival.
It is not that none of the reptiles became extinct, some did. Those who survived might have changed their habitats. They might have occupied the environment that was less prone to change. Smaller animals are said to be able to adapt to changes more quickly than larger animals can. Certain reptiles and birds feed on worms and insects, which in turn feed on dead plants. Therefore, even if most of the vegetation is dead, the food supply is still present.
