How Can I Attach A CD-RW In My Computer?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

A CD-RW (compact disc- rewritable) is not a device but an optical disc, which is capable of storing data. The CD-RW can burn or in other words can save a number of different data like movies, music, documents etc. The data which is recorded in a CD-RW can be deleted and added again a number of times without even disturbing the quality of the CD-RW

Normally the writing is slow as compared to CD-R. Normally, it burns at speed range of 2X to 10X or more, hence it takes more time to burn CD-R compared to CD-RW. Physical damage may hamper it or may completely ruin CD-RW. Sony, Samsung, Moserbaer are some of the brands manufacturing CD-RWs. CD-RW is costly as compared to a CD-R. One should not scratch or apply any kind of chemical cleaning material to clean the CD-RW. Using a bad CD-RW, may damage the lens of the CD writer.

      Do the following steps:
      • First of all shut down the computer and pull out all the wires to it.
      • Open the CPU cover
      • Pick a serial port wire which exists in the computer. It is the same shape as on the back side of the CD rewriter. It is a rubber type wire with collections of serial pins.
      • Fit the CD rewriter into the CD rewriter place in front of the computer.
      • Attach the wire in the back of the CD recorder.
      • Cover up the computer and attach all the wires.
      • Start the computer.
      • There is a software driver which is used to record CDs. Insert it in to the CD rewriter kit and run it.
      • Installation starts if the driver has the auto play option. Press next when asked and enter the CD serial number which usually exists on CD covers. In case the CD serial number is not provided then explore the CD and find a file name as 'serial'. Usually this is a notepad file. Open this file and copy the serial number.
      • After fully installing the driver of the CD-writer restart the computer and start work.
