My 3 Yr Old Lab Is Pregnant, We Think She Is Pregnant, She Is Lately Trying To Hump Everything, And Taking Blankets And Balling Them Up With Her Paws, Is She Going To Have Her Puppies Soon????

Her heat was around mid march, I called the vet and they said 63 days or so, but she could also be having a fake pregnancy. What are other signs she will have puppies soon if she is pregnant. I feed her and water her well, but when she was done eating this morning, she was panting so hard like she just got done with a 5 mile run.

When a dog is just about to give birth they begin nesting.  nesting involves locating a dark safe place perhaps behind a sofa or under a bed, bringing and kneading blankets for her own comfort.  she will walk around in circles for a short while.  then she will whimper at you especially if her 1st litter as she has no idea what is happening to her.  whose idea was the 5 mile run?  i doubt the dog would be willing to exert herself while in labor.  i have owned a black and a choc lab...they r the best!  what color is your jewel?

Dogs have hormones just like people; however they are animals and don't always make sense when it come to taking care of their needs. Once she has her puppies she should be okay until she goes into heat again.

If you spend regular time with your dog, and she is pregnant, and she's coming up on 8-9 weeks, 99 out of 100 times... You'd know.

A False pregnancy can mimic many of the signs of a real pregnancy... Even so far as to cause early labor contractions.   But at this point there are some signs that can't be faked... Not the least of which being, you should be able to see and feel the pups moving at this point.  If you watch her while resting or lay next to her for awhile with your hand on the side of her belly... You should be able to see and feel the pups moving around.  Her belly will be stretched taut and very firm... Like she's going to burst. If she'll let you, you can gently press and run the pads your fingers in along the sides of her belly, if she's pregnant you'll be able to feel the individual pups in their sacs.. Kind of like little water balloons... If you press a little harder, you'll start to feel the hard little nubs of knees and elbows...

Unless she's normally very obese and only has one maybe two very small pups (unlikely for a lab)... At this point you should fairly easily be able to tell.
