I'm not sure what species of python you are referring to exactly, but If you're speaking of the largest python, the Burmese Python, they can move at a rate of about 1 mph on land. They can swim at a faster rate, but not by much. Sorry... The hoopla and hype of horror flicks do much to distort the truth. The reality is never as exciting.
