The Capitan of the Titanic was a man named Capitan E.J. Smith. He was known by many as the "Millionaire's Capitan".  People called him the Millionaire's Capitan because most of the ship's he navigated carried millionaire passengers. E.J Smith was planning on retiring from his career as a ship captain after the Titanic voyage; however, he did not make it to that point.  As most captains, he went down with his ship. He worked for White Star Line for 25 years from 1880 until 1912. He was born on January 27, 1850 in Hanley, England, and he was sixty-two years old at the time of the Titanic sinking.  Among the ships that he commanded were: The Republic, The Coptic, The Majestic, The Baltic, The Adriatic, The Olympic, and the Titanic.  He commanded a  total of seventeen ships during his career with White Star Lines.
