Who Was Pablo Picasso?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Pablo Picasso was a famous painter who lived from 1881-1973. He is known as the master of the modern movement in art. He not only was a painter, he also was a sculptor, a printmaker, a ceramicist, and a theater designer. His work displays a bewildering change of technical and stylistic originally with a wide-ranging Freudian response to the human condition, including many intimate references to sex and death, sometimes blissful and sometimes anguished. Always highly autobiographical, Pablo Picasso had the rare ability to turn self-comment into universal truths about mankind. His full name is Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Crispín Crispiniano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. One of the most recognized figures in 20th century art. It has been estimated that Picasso produced about 13,500 paintings or designs, 100,000 prints or engravings, 34,000 book illustrations and 300 sculptures or ceramics.
