This question relates to the subject of geology. Sometimes we do wonder how these huge structures i.e. mountains came into existence in the first place. First of all a massive amount of sediment accumulates on the ocean floor. When an oceanic plate and a continental plate meet at a destructive boundary, this sediment is disturbed. As subduction of the oceanic plate occurs, sediment is scraped from the ocean floor and piled up along the edge of the continent itself.

Mountains are formed as plates below the earth crust, called plate tectonics, gets 'stressed' out and "crash" together. Usually mountain ranges are found on fault lines as those are usually where plate tectonics collide. The collision forces the plates to move upwards, forming a mountain.
