How Do I Verify A Check Is Real?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Make a trip to the bank it's drawn on. Show it to them. They may be able to cash it right there, but it's also possible they'll say you have to have an account with them in order for them to cash it. You can sometimes get them to waive this rule by talking to a manager. That's the only sure way.
If you just deposit the check in your own account, you won't know for a week or so that it's no good.

Well, it being real may not be the whole story but, you can call the bank the check was written on which is printed on the check, and ask if there is enough money in the account to cover the check....;if this is not a real account you will know but if there isn't enough money in the account you will pay for insufficient funds which can actually be worse.

I hope this covers your question
