Urdu is a Turkish word meaning, 'ARMY'. In Mughal era their army used to consists of solders from all across Asia and Middle East. None of them spoke a common language. URDU evolved as the common language and still contains a lot of words from Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English, French and many other regional languages.
