A small amount of discharge is normal up to 6-7 weeks postpartum.  If she is acting off in any way--not eating, drinking, is lethargic she needs to be examined by a veterinarian.  If the bleeding is excessive she also needs to be examined by a veterinarian.  Otherwise monitor her closely for the next week and if she is still discharging have her examined.

Bloody discharge stops at about 3 weeks post-whelping.  There is quite a bit of variation here, some bitches may bleed up to 10 weeks or so.  At 6 weeks, to be on the safe side it is probably best if you have your dog examined by a veterinarian.  This type of fluid could be a sign of urinary tract infection, or uterine infection.  Other signs of urinary tract infection include straining to urinate, lethargy, fever, foul smelling urine, painful abdomen, and increased frequency of urination.  Uterine infections can be very serious.  The signs may be similar to urinary tract infections, but also include an increase in drinking.  If your dog is showing signs of illness you should see a vet as soon as possible.
