Where Is Oman?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Oman is situated on the south eastern coast of the Arabian peninsula.  It covers an area of some 82,000 miles squared, ranging from the tip of the Musandam peninsula and the islands of Masirah, Kuria Maria and Daymaruyat.
Oman is bordered by the South Yemen to its south, Saudia Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
It is an oil producing country and as such has significant wealth for many, particularly those associated with the Sultan of Oman.  It is rated about the 70th strongest economy in the world but has a population of only 1.5 million people !
Oman has close links with other oil producing Arab countries and is a member of the Arab League.  It was a founder member of the Gulf Co-operation League in 1981, which was set up to try and improve relations between the Gulf states.
As may be expected it is a Muslim country, although less rigid in doctrine than Saudia Arabia.
