What Order Did Franklin Roosevelt Give So He Could Always See The Jefferson Memorial?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

When in 1930 there were monuments built honouring the great United States presidents including Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. The President of United States at that time was Franklin Roosevelt. He felt that Thomas Jefferson, who was the third president of the United States, was known as the American founding father surely deserved a monument dedicated to his honour. Thus, he passed an order in June 1934 taking the initiative to build a monument. Congress took this order a step forward and passed a resolution to build the monument in Washington D.C. The architect of the National Museum of Art, John Russell Pope designed the monument.
