From what a gentleman told me at Home Depot, they cost more but are more energy efficient. They heat as you use the water instead of heating stored amounts in the tank. Basically, you wouldn't run out of hot water because it heats as you use.
That is what I was told. Good luck

A tankless water heater is a boiler, so much get instant hot water. And it's never ending, unlike a traditional water heater. They take time to fill. Boilerhas a constant flow.

A tankless water heater is a glorified broiler, but if the electricity goes out, so does your hot water. Something to consider before you buy, specially if you live in California. (Rolling Blackout Land)

A tankless water heater is a glorified broiler, each home is different and cost to benefit will vary. If your tankless water heater is under $1000. :( You get what you pay for, this is long time investment for your home.
