Can Raw Vegetables Kept In The Refrigerator Get Bacteria That Causes Food Poisoning?

I ate some cut up raw vegetables that had been in the fridge for about one week; that evening I had all symptoms associated with food poisoning and I am still feeling ill

    Yes the vegetables can get bacteria and other microorganisms e.g fungus, when they get old. Diarrhea and dysentery are caused by the bacteria. So always go for fresh vegetables and avoid using the older ones. Canned veges are not as nutritive as the raw veges, but they are treated for microorganisms, so they don't get you sick even if they are packed in the tins for months.

      No for a short time, but keeping them for so long will make them rotten and can encourage bacterial or molds growth.

        Bacteria grow at its optimum between approx 40-145.F. Out of this danger zone raw vegetables should be safe. Of course you need to use the fruit and vegetables soon enough as it will loose its freshness.
