 Gestation (pregnancy) in dogs lasts 64-66 days so if you know when she was bred you should know within several days when she is due.  Labor has 3 stages.  Stage one labor begins with the start of uterine contraction.  This stage averages 6-12 hours.  During this time your dog may be pacing, restless, pant, shiver, vomit, and will not eat.  Most dogs try to find a place to nest during this stage.  The end of stage one is when the cervix is fully dilated and the first fetus enters the birth canal.
Monitoring temperature rectally can help determine when labor will begin.  Within 24 hours of birth the body temperature will fall to below 99 degrees F.
If you are concerned that your dog is in labor and it has been more than 12-16 hours please have a veterinarian examine your dog to see if she will be able to deliver puppies naturally or if she needs a C-section.
