According to the census Bearue the population of this town is 18,303 upto the year 2000. the Winthrop was officially given the name by the government in the year 1852. The first governor of the state was the John Winthrop and after the death of the John Winthrop the name was given to the town as the Winthrop town. John Winthrop did lot of work for the mankind so he is the one of the great man in the history. The native people of the America call this area as the winnesemmet. So the management of the town did a great job in the town for the people and this is very clean and wide town.
