Who Is Providing Us Internet.what Is Meant By A Server, Which Is Providing Us Internet?

I have been having problems with my server. I am self taught on my computer, but have figured out that the server is the company which provides my Internet access, I recently switched back to our local cable provider after trying the old nationwide phone conglomerate, that was dismantled years ago for 'trust' abuses. I hope no-one else suffers the same problems we had with the company that used to have a nickname that started with 'MA' ----. The serious Trust issues still exist, only it is a different sort of trust they are abusing now. Getting back to server, different areas have access to service providers, these are the people who hook you up to the Internet, and you pay them for that access.
