What Was The Original Name Of The Sitcom "Terry And June"?

Answer Question

Terry and June are the names of the chief characters in a comedy which started life in the Comedy Playhouse and became a series called "Happy Ever After" in 1974. It starred Terry Scott and June Whitfield, as would the later series, and started the formula of quiet, middle class suburban comedy. The original series included long-term houseguest Aunt Lucy (Beryl Cooke) who keeps a mynah bird and has a passion for sherry. The couple's daughters, Susie and Debbie (Lena Clemo and Caroline Whitaker) though no longer living at home, make frequent appearances. Otherwise most of the comedy derives from Terry's bumbling, interfering nature and need to show off (in one episode, the family are chosen to appear in a documentary about middle-class life, but filming has to be abandoned due to Terry's insistence on playing to the cameras.) Though sometimes accused of smugness, the show was popular and, under its new name of Terry and June, lasted well into the 80s.
